Real-time Artificial Intelligence for particle physics
Jennifer Ngadiuba
(Fermilab)

To push the limits of our understanding of the universe, particle physics experiments are becoming remarkably sophisticated to probe nature at increasingly smaller spatial resolutions and shorter timescales in extreme environments resulting in a deluge of data that far surpasses non-scientific applications. The big-data challenges faced by these experiments in this era will require novel paradigms where AI is deployed in real-time at the edge of particle-physics experiments with stringent system constraints in terms of computational speed, resource usage, and energy consumption. This talk will review the recent developments in the field of AI that provide us with a solution to these unique challenges focusing on a few particle physics applications that, among others, include the experiments at the LHC and large scale neutrinos detectors.
