Nanoscale materials

The Nanoscale Materials Lab was created following an agreement between the department of physics of the university of Trieste and Elettra Sincrotron Trieste, the company responsible for running the Elettra synchrotron radiation source and the FERMI free electron laser. The lab carries out experimental research in the field of surface science, two-dimensional materials and 0D atomic clusters, in close cooperation with the scientists working at Elettra.
Since 2000, more than 80 students have carried out experimental research within the Nanoscale Materials Lab, both for preparing their master thesis in Physics or Chemistry and within the framework of the doctoral program in Physics and Nanotechnology of the university of Trieste. The lab hosts the students following the course "Laboratorio di Fisica dei Nanomateriali" within the program of the MSc in Physics of the university of Trieste, offering the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art scientific equipment and to interact with scientists in an international environment.
