The two new quantum physics laboratories at the Physics Department
Today, a press conference was held, organized by the University press office, for the inauguration of the two new quantum physics laboratories: the ArQuS Laboratory (Artificial Quantum Systems), where artificial quantum systems will be studied through the control of individual atoms, and the Quantum Communication and Information Laboratory (QCI), where research and technological development of new solutions for quantum communications over optical fiber and free space will be conducted.
The laboratories are located in the spaces of the National Research Council (CNR) at the Area Science Park, Basovizza campus, and are led by Francesco Scazza, associate professor of condensed matter physics at the Department of Physics of UniTS, and Alessandro Zavatta, senior research scientist at the National Institute of Optics of the CNR (INO-CNR).
