Prof. Guido Barbiellini Amidei awarded with “il Sigillo d'Argento" of the Province of Trieste

On Monday, September 28 at 11:00 am Prof. Guido Barbiellini Amidei will be awarded with "il Sigillo d'Argento" of the Province of Trieste.
Prof. Barbiellini Amidei, professor of Physics at the Department of Physics of the University of Trieste, now retired, has a long experience in the field of elementary particle physics and astrophysics in the field of high-energy cosmic radiation.
He worked for many years in the laboratories of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) in Frascati, then continued his career at CERN in Geneva, where he was among the leaders DELPHI experiment at the LEP accelerator.
He became full professor at the University of Trieste in 1987 at the Faculty of Engineering, where he taught for many years the course of General Physics. He was later director of the Trieste section of the National Institute of Nuclear Physics and member of the Board of Directors of ELETTRA.
Prof. Guido Barbiellini Amidei is currently co-principal investigator of the AGILE experiment of the Italian Space Agency and he is among the proponents of international experiment of the NASA named Fermi. Both instruments use silicon detectors, proposed to be use in space by prof. Barbiellini Amidei in 1987.
