Seminar @ DF-INFN - M. Dorigo and M. Nardecchia - Is lepton-flavor universality still valid?

Precision studies of the weak interactions of heavy quarks are sharp probes of phenomena not described by the standard model. Intriguing anomalies in the decay rates of bottom mesons have been recently observed that hint at a possible breaking of the universality of the gauge-boson coupling with leptons, a key feature of the standard model. We discuss both the experimental methods and the theoretical implications of these results.
