I will present results (old, but also new!) from the GTO and GAPS five-years long radial-velocity programmes with HARPS-N at TNG, describing the impact that high-resolution, high-precision spectroscopic data with this state-of-the-art facility have had in various research areas of the fascinating field of extrasolar planetary systems. I will then outline avenues for the future, continued exploitation of high-resolution spectroscopy at the TNG, particularly when seen as a leadership boon for the italian community in the exoplanet field.
