On 18-19 April, an event on quantum science and technology was held at the Italian Academy of Columbia University, organised by professors of the department Angelo Bassi, Fabio Benatti, Alberto Morgante, Francesco Scazza and Andrea Trombettoni. The event consisted of a scientific workshop with speakers from prestigious American and Italian scientific institutions, mainly from the Trieste area, and an event open to the general public moderated by an American science journalist. Both the workshop and the public event were hosted by the Italian Academy of Columbia University, a prestigious cultural and scientific institution whose honorary president is the President of the Italian Republic. The event was promoted, both among the academic public and the general public, by the Italian Academy, which has considerable experience in managing and promoting events of this kind.

Given the relevance of the event, which concerns one of the research directions of the Department of Excellence, the Department of Physics participated with co-funding of the activities.
