Many Body Phases in Unconventional Geometries
Prof. Fabio Cinti
Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Florence, Italy
Abstract: In this talk we explore the many-body physics of interacting bosons in unconventional geometries, focusing on quantum quasicrystals and curved confinements such as bubble traps. These settings provide a versatile platform to study strongly correlated matter beyond standard lattices and host a variety of many-body phases. Starting with an extended hardcore-boson Hubbard model on a quasicrystalline lattice, we discuss the transition from a homogeneous condensate to a Bose glass driven by interactions and chemical potential. In continuous-space quasicrystal potentials with dipolar interactions, the system can form structured phases including superfluid stripes and super-quasicrystal-like arrangements. We then consider bosons on curved manifolds, motivated by experiments loading atoms into shell-like traps under microgravity. We analyze the stability of superfluid, crystalline, and supersolid phases as functions of curvature and gravitational offset.
