Medical Physics and Bio-Physics

Medical Physics is physics applied to medicine: in an interdisciplinary environment, physicists from diverse areas of expertise cooperate with doctors from bìvarious specializations to develop new techniques or methods to diagnose or treat specific diseases. In our Department, ongoing research activities concern the development of radiological techniques using synchrotron radiation, with particular attention to mammography, neuroimaging with magnetic resonance (MRI) and the treatment of tumors by means of neutron capture.

In our Department biophysical research is also carried out in an interdisciplinary environment, where a collaboration of physicists, biologists and statisticians utilizes advanced numerical and analytical techniquest to study growth and development of tumors.
